Writing tips
- Topics and sources – Choose a topic you have expertise in and then do your homework. Be sure your statements of fact are up-do-date and based on credible sources. We ask that you provide a link to the reference, so that our readers can easily learn where the information was derived from.
- Keywords – Keywords or phrases help search engines understand what the story is about. In general, keywords should appear in titles, headings and subheadings as well as content. Use keywords or phrases naturally. That means they have to make sense, fit into the story and be grammatically correct. Avoid “stuffing” your story with keywords.
- Titles – We ask that you provide an SEO friendly title that contains the main target keyword or phrase. There are many resources on the internet to help you learn how to craft a clever title, including title checkers, such as Co-Schedule’s Headline Analyzer. We reserve the right to change the title, however, to be sure that it is optimized for search.
Formatting
Please try to follow this pattern:
- Title – Main headline contains the main keyword.
- Introductory paragraph – Write a compelling 5 – 6 sentence introduction. Use the target keyword in the first 100 words.
- Subheadings using secondary keywords – Try to limit your content under each sub-heading to 300-400 words.
- Bullet points – Present important points as bullet points instead of long lists of items in a single sentence.
- Additional materials for readers – List any books, articles, videos, social posts, tweets, PDFs, that can help strengthen our content.
- Summary or Concluding Statement – Add an appropriate call to action if relevant to your story.

Additional images are welcome, also. If you look our blog, you will see that we like to put a lot of images in our posts.
You must own the rights to the image or otherwise have explicit permission to use it. Please include information about where you purchased it or provide the details of what free site you obtained it from (e.g., Pixabay, Pexels, Unsplash, Flickr, Wikipedia, etc.) in the appropriate place on the submission form.
Featured image sizes should be between 800 x 500 and 2000 x 1333 px. The format should be JPG or PNG.
We reserve the right to use a different featured image if we feel it will better support the story.
